Quick Start Guide
Converting files with ConvertZen is simple and takes just a few seconds. Follow these steps:
- Choose Your Converter
Navigate to the homepage and select the converter you need (e.g., "PDF to Word", "JPG to PNG"). You can browse by category or scroll through all 24+ available converters.
- Upload Your File
You have two options: drag and drop your file onto the upload area, or click "Choose File" to browse your device. The file will upload automatically once selected.
- Click Convert
Once your file is uploaded, click the "Convert" button. The conversion process typically takes 2-10 seconds depending on file size and type. You'll see a progress bar showing the conversion status.
- Download Your File
When conversion completes, a download button appears. Click it to download your converted file. The file will be saved to your default downloads folder.

💡 Tips & Best Practices
Check File Quality First
The quality of your converted file depends on the original. Use high-resolution source files (300 DPI for images, clear text for PDFs) for best results.
Keep Original Files
Always keep a backup of your original file until you've verified the conversion meets your needs. Our conversions are high-quality, but it's good practice.
File Size Limits
Free users can upload files up to 50MB. If your file is larger, consider compressing it first or upgrade to Pro for 200MB limit.
Conversion Time
Small files (under 5MB) convert almost instantly. Larger files may take 30-60 seconds. Pro users get priority processing for faster conversions.
Download Links Expire
Download your file within 1 hour. After that, the file is permanently deleted for security. If you need it again, simply convert again.
Browser Compatibility
Use modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) with updated versions for best experience. Disable popup blockers for downloads.
🔧 Troubleshooting Common Issues
❌ Conversion Failed
If your conversion fails, try these solutions:
- Check that your file isn't corrupted - try opening it in its native application
- Verify file size is under the limit (50MB for free users)
- Remove password protection from PDFs before converting
- Ensure you selected the correct file format
- Try refreshing the page and converting again
⏱️ Conversion Taking Too Long
If conversion seems stuck:
- Check your internet connection - slow connections affect upload/download
- Large files (30MB+) can take 30-60 seconds - this is normal
- Don't refresh the page while converting - you'll lose progress
- Try again during off-peak hours if our servers are busy
📥 Download Not Working
If you can't download your file:
- Check that your browser allows popups from ConvertZen
- Try right-clicking the download button and selecting "Save link as..."
- Ensure you have storage space on your device
- If the link expired (after 1 hour), use "Generate New Link" button
⚠️ Quality Issues
If your converted file quality isn't good:
- Check the quality of your original file - we can't enhance quality, only preserve it
- For scanned PDFs, use high-resolution scans (300 DPI minimum)
- Images in PDFs maintain their original resolution
- Compression tools reduce file size, which may slightly reduce quality
